YouCaxton Publications began life in the 1980s in Nottingham as a publishing and book-design company called Lazy Summer Books and then moved to Summertown in Oxford.
Our main activity at that time was to research, write and illustrate books (known as book-packaging) for educational publishers including Cassell, Collins, OUP, Franklin Watts, Hodder and Heinemann.
We are particularly proud of a series of books we produced called Spaceship Earth, published by Cassell. These were the first educational resource books tackling ecological issues including waste disposal, poisons and food production, specifically for young readers at Keystage 2.
One of these books won the Copus Science Prize and another came runner-up.
We also produced a series called Animal Hospital for Cassell and another series called Horrible Histories for Watts Books – several of our ideas have been echoed, and in some cases copied, by other publishers.
We still have a presence in Oxford but our main address is now in Frankwell, Shrewsbury.
A large number of our customers are from the surrounding area and the West Midlands.
We have been creating high-quality books for over thirty years now. For the last fifteen years, we have been offering publishing support services to authors wishing to self-publish
as well as continuing to publish a number of our own books each year under the YouCaxton imprint and the ArtCircus Books imprint
Do visit the YouCaxton site to see what we do and see some of the books that we have helped to publish.
We provide a full range of services from editing, design and layout, indexing and Print management through to ISBN registration, eBooks, print-on-demand and traditional publishing.
